• National Park, Grossglockner Hochalpenstrase (High Alp road)
    Bad Gastein is one of 83 municipalities that are included in the Tauren National Park which is the second largest in Europe, covering a territory of 1800 square kilometers. When you get to know this park, you will discover unseen kinds of flora and fauna, that here are protected from extinction.
    Each and ever person who visits this area should definitely take a ride a long the Grosglokner High Alp road. From there you will have the possibility to gaze at the highest mountain peak in Austria - Grossglockner (3798m), large glaciers, Alp meadows, cliffs and beautiful waterfalls. Grosglokner High Alp road is the most spectacular route for car travelers in Alps.

  • Cycling
    Gastein offers activities for various level riders. Here you will find cycling roads for relaxed riding that can be enjoyed in company of friends or family, as well as, special track net for mountain bike riders.
    If you want to have a good workout and enjoy beautiful scenery, you can chose from one of 14 different length and height variation mountain biking tracks, which in total have length of 133 km.
    When choosing the relaxing bike ride along the Gastein valley, you will enjoy gorgeous mountain views; this will be lovely and pleasant adventure for the whole family. Bicycle rent is provided.

  • Rafting
    Accompanied by experienced instructors you will be able to go on two hour journey down the Salzach river riffles, which is an unforgettable adventure for everyone.

  • Golf
    Gastein Golf Club is on of the oldest golf clubs in Austria. Playing the 18-hole golf course, you will enjoy the fabulous Alp landscape all around. This golf course gathers players from all over the world since 1960.

  • Paragliding
    Unforgettable emotional adventure can be experienced flying a paraplan accompanied by a professional instructor. You can fly even as high as 2000 meters above the ground!

  • Tennis
    There are 30 outside and 6 inside tennis courts available in the Gastein valley, making it easy for tennis fans to enjoy their hobby.

  • Hiking
    Hiking is the most popular leisure activity in summertime. It is possible to choose from various length and difficulty tracks, starting from one hour walk, or even plan a route for several days, and spend the nights in romantic mountain cabins.

  • Windsurfing
    You can catch wind in the Zell am See lake, which is located 30 minute drive from the Gastein valley.

  • Radon caves
    This is a unique place. The only nature created healing complex in Europe, where people from all over the world come to improve their health.Approximately 2 km under cliffs, a treatment zone is created, where radon gas evaporates, and directly affects patient’s skin and pipes. Lying in warm air baths 37-41,5 C, at air humidity 70-100%, the effect on human body is extraordinary.Radon therapy is recommended especially for treating different injuries, allergies, arthritis, rheumatism, asthma, bronchitis, and other lung and pipe diseases, as well as for prophylaxis and body immunity renewal.

    For those who want to enjoy winter leisure in summertime, we suggest to take a 30 minute drive to Kapruna or Moltale glacier, where you will be more than welcome to indulge in downhill skiing.

    Why not try something new? In guidance of experienced instructor you can learn the first steps in mountaineering. That can certainly be done in company with your family and friends. When the basics will be cracked, your way to the peak will be open.
